“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.”
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (NKJV)
I have been a widow since more than 30 years ago, when I was 32. I had two young children to care for, and our livelihood to take care of. I felt alone.
Then one day, when I was 40, my children brought me to a Church Service at River Church. I was touched by God and accepted Jesus into my life as my Lord and Savior. From that day onwards, my life greatly changed and transformed. I began to live my life and do my best to glorify God. I started to learn the Word of God, attended classes on baptism, and learnt skills on leadership from our Pastors. I then understood the importance of teaching God’s Word and Christian values to my children.
I am grateful to my nephew who ‘secretly’ brought my children to church despite our family’s objection at that time. Though they lost their earthly father, they now have the love of our Heavenly Father. And through them, I also came to know and believe in God. WIth our Pastors’ love and leadership, my children were trained to live with godly attitude and behavior that to glorify God.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for right living,”
2 Timothy 3:16 GNTD
I thank God for His Word. My children did not go astray in their teenage years because of the Christian values that they learned and developed. I witnessed for myself how through the Biblical teaching from the church, my children drew closer to God and grew up well.
I thank God for our Pastors sowing seeds into my children’s lives through God’s Word, and training them to follow the truth. As they grow up to be adults, I continue to witness fruitfulness in their lives, in their career, behaviour and character. I thank God for who they are now as they continue to learn to grow up well as God’s children.
I sincerely thank God for our Pastors, Rev Dr Stephen Tan and Pastor Monica Sng. They have been the spiritual parents to my children since they were young. They have also taught me to be the godly mother, to bring up and teach my children according to God’s ways.
I praise God that I have a Remarkable Home with Remarkable Children.
